Arvada High School GT Focused Program

The Mission of our GT Focused Program is to support the unique emotional, social, and intellectual needs of Gifted, Talented, and creative learners by implementing the Autonomous Learner Model and to provide programming which:

  • focuses on assisting students' academic needs and challenges;
  • supports intellectual development;
  • encourages exploration in areas of interest;
  • builds upon multipotentiality;
  • develops enhanced critical and creative thinking skills;
  • provides authentic learning experiences;
  • and fosters a flexible, accepting climate for gifted and talented learners.

Academic rigor combined with individualized programming and mentoring in fields of interest will provide learners with differentiated opportunities to develop their potential and become self-directed, responsible citizens, leading productive, fulfilling lives. GT programming will effectively employ research-based strategies, designed to increase student achievement and nurture autonomous learners.

GT Elective Course- Autonomous Learner/ Holistic Model

  • Long/ short term projects-pushes and challenges students- fit with strengths and challenges those strengths-extension and enrichment opportunities
  • Social/ Emotional and Academic support
  • Community Service Opportunities

GT Counselor

  • Accessible in the classroom (once a week)
  • Group work
  • Monthly topics/ themes- Social Emotional Curriculum
